The TESA Collective has released Rise Up: The Game of People & Power, a fun, strategic board game that inspires people to join social movements and fight for change.
Put aside the games made in sweatshops and enjoy the most ethically produced board game on the market. Board game enthusiasts who care about environmental sustainability and fair labor practices will love Rise Up, which is produced mainly by worker-owned cooperatives in the United States and has a low carbon footprint.
You’re fighting for an issue you care passionately about. It could be stopping an anti-immigrant bill or pushing a university to divest from fossil fuels. Whatever your cause, you’ll need to build a broad and united movement to win the change you want. You’ll knock on hundreds of doors, create viral videos, lead marches, build alliances, and even organize a general strike. Rise Up is a cooperative game; everyone is on the same team and wins or loses together.
But you can’t expect to win easily. “The System” will do whatever it takes to crush your movement. Police are called in. There’s a smear campaign against you. Your team starts turning on each other.
Can you build the people power you need to score enough victories and beat The System?
Rise Up has a double-sided board with two different games. Rise Up Standard is a strategy game great for game nights and experienced players. Flip the board over for Rise Up Simplified: quicker to learn with simpler rules for younger kids, less experienced game players, and educational settings.
Rise Up features original artwork by Innosanto Nagara of Design Action Collective, creator of the beloved children’s books A Is for Activist and Counting on Community. The game was funded on Kickstarter by over 700 backers in fall 2016.
