Shudde M’ell Shakes the World. Meet this unstoppable challenge by traversing the globe to attempt to halt the rise of Shudde M’ell, the Cataclysm from Below, in Cities in Ruin, the newest expansion for Eldritch Horror, available now! Can the investigators stem the tide of destruction that heralds the coming of the Ancient One?

Cities across the globe are reeling from the effects of Shudde M’ell struggling in his prison beneath the Heart of Africa. The seals that had trapped him beneath the ancient city of G’harne are weakening. The earth’s crust cracks and heaves, and the very fabric of reality warps and splits. As we’ve shown in our two previews, cities that were once safe havens can now be wiped entirely off the map by disasters that arise amid Shudde M’ell’s dreams. Even though this devastation is a serious setback, unique challenges await amidst the ruins that could yield great insight and valuable assets for your investigators.

As the great cthonion creature stirs, the investigators must meet this incredible threat with new strategies. Gain an array of advantages by arming your desperate team with a folio of Agency Secrets,  or attack the creatures head-on by unleashing some powerful arcane forces of your own with the Wave of Destruction task.

Both of these Unique Assets are new to this expansion, and are just a sampling of some of the new Asset, Condition, and Spell cards you’ll find in Cities in Ruin. Take advantage of every last scrap of resources that you can gather, for the Cataclysm from Below is waking, and the investigators must race to stop him.

The world is gripped by disastrous weather patterns and the ground quakes as Shudde M’ell, the Cataclysm from Below, begins to wake from is slumber. In Cities in Ruin, the newest expansion for Eldritch Horror, the Ancient One’s dreams rend reality as its slumbering form thrashes about, wreaking havoc on the world of man. In our last preview, we looked at how the new Disaster cards can level a city. So, what is left for the investigators when these former havens are laid low by disaster and invaded by cthonian monstrosities?

Cities all over the world are left as smoldering or soggy shells of what they once were, but there are still secrets to be learned and there are victims that need help. When a city is devastated, a Devastation token is placed over the location, and it is no longer considered a city space. All of the Clues, Expedition Encounters, and defeated investigators that were in that place are wiped from the map. Any investigators picking their way through the destruction can choose to resolve a Devastation Encounter instead. Obviously these locations have been hotbeds of recent activity related to the Ancient One, and there are opportunities to help survivors or to explore clues that Shudde M’ell’s touch have left behind.

If a ruined structure crumbles around you, will you try to claw your way back to the surface or dig deeper in hopes of finding another passage? When you come upon a crowd of townsfolk in the thrall of one of Shudde M’ell’s cthonian spawn, will you try to wake them from their trance or follow them to the source of its call? Devastation Encounters provide the investigators with choices and tests that can yield an array of rewards and some serious setbacks, so undertake these forays into blighted areas at your own peril.

May 16th, 2017

In the Cities in Ruin expansion for Eldritch Horror, Shudde M’ell, the progenitor of the dreaded chthonians, tosses and turns with the cycle of its dreams. Mankind’s fragile existence is threatened as this otherwordly being comes closer to waking than ever before. Cities fall and storms rage all over the globe as Shudde M’ell thrashes beneath the planet’s surface. Can a few brave investigators scattered across the globe truly hope to stand between this horrifying monstrosity and the utter devastation that heralds its coming?

There had been so many signs. Why had none of them listened? You had tried to warn them that the prison of G’harne was failing in Africa. The media, the police, even the revered professors at Miskatonic University, all of them had treated you like some raving lunatic and thrown you out into the street. Even now, with acrid smoke and the stink of death thick in the air, no one actually looked back at the coiled horrors writhing amongst the city’s ruins. None of them wanted to believe that this level of devastation could be visited upon the world by forces so poorly understood by the minds of man.

Someone must face these horrors and try to drive them back. Someone has to try to keep Shudde M’ell from waking. No one had listened, and now you grimly march into the ruins of the city you tried to save, determined to find some clue to sealing away the ancient creature once and for all.

It has been months since you saw the sunset city in a dream—towering minarets and domes, crossed by shadow and red light from the gently setting orb of fire that permanently rests outside the city. Since then, you’ve crossed these borders every night, searching for the city, hoping to set foot inside. You have seen wonders beyond compare: the sacred cats of Ulthar and the turquoise and tourmaline city of Celephaïs that rests beneath the gingko-covered slopes of Mount Aran. You have all but abandoned your waking life, eating less and less, spending more and more time asleep. But tonight is different. There, on the silvery, blade-thin horizon between wakefulness and sleep, the black ships from the moon have finally caught up to you.

Descend into a world of sleep and splendor with The Dreamlands, the latest expansion for Eldritch Horror. June 6th, 2016

Fantasy Flight Games have released Signs of Carcosa, an expansion for Eldritch Horror.

The streets of San Francisco are doused in rain, driving reasonable men and women indoors. You and your companions could never be described as reasonable. You walk with purpose, each of you carrying the tools of your trade. For the urchin girl, a thick and tattered leather-bound tome. For the Irish gangster, a well-used Thompson, shielded from the downpour by his long coat. For yourself, Dexter Drake, a silver-shod walking cane that could almost be mistaken for a staff. On the docks, you pause. The girl kneels, sketches a few lines in midair, and the air tears itself open—gazing through the dimensions, you see spiraling, alien towers, feel the heat of twin suns rising, taste the air of another world: Lost Carcosa.

Venture into the worlds beyond our own, and take your stand against the tides of madness. Signs of Carcosa is now available for Eldritch Horror.
