CMON Acquires Licence for Night of the Living Dead

CMON Ltd., maker of worldwide best-selling tabletop games including their flagship title Zombicide, has acquired the license from Living Dead Media to create branded board games and associated play accessories (including miniature PVC figures, board, dice and tokens/coins, cards) based on Romero’s original iconic movie.

These new games are officially approved by Image Ten, the original production company and custodians of George A. Romero’s iconic film, making them the definitive tabletop products based on the horror classic.

Geoff Skinner, CMON’s VP of Media Development, said of the partnership, “Night of the Living Dead is the quintessential zombie movie. It’s an honor to work with such a property, and we are excited to be able to partner with Living Dead Media and Image Ten on creating a game worthy of the movie’s legacy.”

For this release, CMON Ltd. is once again working with Evolution USA LLC, the licensing and brand management agent of Living Dead Media. Their first collaboration was a tabletop game based on the popular Gaumont-produced Netflix series, Narcos. That game is slated to hit store shelves on November 23rd.

Travis Rutherford, Partner/Chief Revenue Officer at Evolution, said, “We’re thrilled for Night of the Living Dead to be hitting gaming tables all over the world next year and are excited to see what the team at CMON has cooked up. Just like their work on Narcos, we know this will be a fitting addition to a legendary franchise.”

“Living Dead Media and Image Ten are proud to partner with CMON to bring legions of fans a new way to experience Night of the Living Dead. And, Living Dead Media will be honoring George A. Romero by donating a portion of its profits to the newly formed George A. Romero Foundation known as GARF,” said Steve Wolsh, CEO of Living Dead Media.

The announcement to create games based on Night of the Living Dead coincides with CMON Ltd.’s opening of their new L.A. office. From there, CMON looks to further work with licensors to create tabletop products. Earlier this year, CMON successfully launched the A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game based on the NYT Bestselling book series by George R. R. Martin as well as Bloodborne: The Card Game based on Sony’s best-selling PS4-exclusive video game, Bloodborne.  In Q2 of 2019, they will be releasing a family tabletop game based on Hanna-Barbera’s classic Wacky Races cartoon series. The L.A. Office is being led by Geoff Skinner.

Horrific Journeys Expansion for Mansions of Madness Announced

Evil haunts strange, far-flung places in Horrific Journeys, the newest expansion for Mansions of Madness available for Pre order now from Fantasy Flight Games!

Reality has begun to deteriorate in the New England countryside, danger rains from the skies, and even the seas are not safe as evil emerges from the depths. In the countryside, a speeding train desperately flees from a threat that defies all laws of reality. In the clouds, a dirigible’s voyage is interrupted by a vicious murder as a storm rolls in. And on the waves, a luxury ocean liner has been sabotaged by some madman planting explosives to sink the vessel.

In this latest expansion for Mansions of Madness, the investigators of Arkham find themselves far from the comforts of home, and the danger increases with each step they take away from their beloved city. To stand against the coming darkness, Horrific Journeys calls upon four new investigators from a wide variety of backgrounds, including a sailor, a spy, a musician, and a waitress. These brave men and women are each more than meets the eye, and the unique backstory on the back of their investigator cards tells you what has led them to this point—how they went from living the life of an average citizen to being thrust into the world of Elder Gods and monsters beyond comprehension.

To help them fight against and survive the mythos, each investigator has a special ability gained from their personal travels and years of living in a sleepy town on the edge of madness. The sailor Silas Marsh may not have much experience with the supernatural, but he is willing to push himself further than anyone to aid his allies, flipping his horror cards faceup to reroll his dice during a test. Meanwhile, Trish Scarborough, the skilled spy, finds it easy to succeed while performing a search action. Jim Culver is one of the world’s most talented musicians and he begins each game with his treasured Golden Trumpet. Finally, Agnes Baker is a waitress with dark powers that she is only beginning to understand, starting each investigation with her own signature spell.

When you choose to step into the shoes of these investigators and bring them to life, you’re accepting the responsibility of defying maddening monsters with the knowledge that you will never receive thanks or even an acknowledgement that your fight exists. Arkham holds its secrets close. Most of its citizens insist that their sleepy town is the very definition of normal, but those who dare to look closer know that all is not right in Massachusetts. Now, as the evil that rots Arkham from within spreads beyond the city limits, you have little choice but to chase down the darkness and bring it to heel.

Wherever evil emerges, the investigators of Arkham will be there to fight back the darkness and protect our world from the terrors that thrive beyond our reality. Should you join them, there is no guarantee that you will survive the journeys that await, and even if you can survive, you will not be unchanged. But the call to take a stand is not one that you can deny. Pack your bags, climb aboard, and steel your nerve for the horrors ahead!

The Masks of Nyarlathotep Expansion for Eldritch Horror Available Now

When the Ancient Ones have occasionally turned their attention to our tiny corner of the universe, it has often been due to a small subset of wrongheaded worshippers calling out to the cosmos for power.

Now, the stars have aligned to amplify this call in Masks of Nyarlathotep, the newest expansion for Eldritch Horror, now available from Fantasy Flight Games.

There is very little light in the cavern, and you’re certain that he hasn’t noticed you following him. You shiver as the silhouette of Nyarlathotep himself stands before the round, dark pool of liquid not more than twenty feet from where you are hiding. For a moment, he looks like a normal man as he sets the tips of his fingers to the surface of the pool. A sour-smelling phosphor seeps out from his touch and spreads across the liquid. The sickly light deepens shadows and casts a lurid sheen into the dank corners of the cave. Voices echo on all sides as the water ripples and flexes, and you can see Nyarlathotep’s form shift and flow effortlessly from one grotesque visage to the next. Its head snaps, stretches, and gibbers at each shadow in its turn. You lose track of how long the barrage of uncanny sound continues, when suddenly, silence reigns. Acutely aware of your labored breathing, you try to calm your fraying nerves and remain hidden. “It won’t matter, you know,” says Nyarlathotep crisply, and your mouth goes dry. It’s hard to tell in the darkness, but you’re sure he’s looking directly at you. “You can struggle and rage against their arrival, but they will come. Your world is forfeit… but I will savor your pathetic efforts.” With that, you can just see the figure Nyarlathotep bend bonelessly and slip into the inky pool as you sprint towards the cavern’s exit.
