English Eerie: Rural Horror Storytelling Game Available Now

Nov 14, 2017

English Eerie is a storytelling game for one player about horror in rural England.

The game takes inspiration from folklore, along with the works of M.R. James, Arthur Machen and Algernon Blackwood to help players tell their own haunted tales of the English countryside.

The game is designed to be played over one or a series of dark evenings by the flicker of candlelight. The player, you, will need a journal, a pen, a ten-sided die (d10), a set of tokens in two colours (beads etc) and a deck of playing cards.

The aim of English Eerie is to tell your own tale of rural horror through entries in your journal – just as many protagonists do in horror literature. The card deck will be the engine that drives your story, presenting scenes for you to flesh out and for your character to overcome – all of which is recorded in physical journal entries. As time goes on tension rises and the horror is ramped up until the climactic end scene. There are several scenarios at the end of this book that offer you an inspirational framework to build a terrifying tale. You can choose to play the game in a single sitting or to draw out the experience over a series of nights.

This book contains five spine-chilling scenarios to inspire your tales of terror:

The Beast on the Moor
The Lost River
Detox
A Rattle of Chains
The Inn

For those who want a group game, the Campfire rules offer suggestions for playing English Eerie with friends.

July 17, 2017

Khurasan have neglected the 15mm Little Carinthia Eldritch Horror range too long, but help is on the way — the Papal Purgator Battalions have arrived.

These include conventional weapons to strip away the damned human followers of the dark powers — rifles as well as heavier weapons — but the real demon fighting power is provided by the Exorcists, wielding the Flame of the Sacred Heart. To use the Flame, those fearless souls have to approach the demon … eye to eye. The Purgators all wear the pointed hood of the penitent — this prevents demons from seeing their faces and thus stealing their souls.

Available now.

As an invested citizen with a penchant for noticing when “odd” becomes “too odd,” you gather a team of likeminded investigators to examine these supernatural threats. It’ll take all of your wits, grit, and the occasional bit of luck to do what needs doing, but somebody has to.

In the Cities in Ruin expansion for Eldritch Horror, Shudde M’ell, the progenitor of the dreaded chthonians, tosses and turns with the cycle of its dreams. Mankind’s fragile existence is threatened as this otherwordly being comes closer to waking than ever before. Cities fall and storms rage all over the globe as Shudde M’ell thrashes beneath the planet’s surface. Can a few brave investigators scattered across the globe truly hope to stand between this horrifying monstrosity and the utter devastation that heralds its coming?

There had been so many signs. Why had none of them listened? You had tried to warn them that the prison of G’harne was failing in Africa. The media, the police, even the revered professors at Miskatonic University, all of them had treated you like some raving lunatic and thrown you out into the street. Even now, with acrid smoke and the stink of death thick in the air, no one actually looked back at the coiled horrors writhing amongst the city’s ruins. None of them wanted to believe that this level of devastation could be visited upon the world by forces so poorly understood by the minds of man.

Someone must face these horrors and try to drive them back. Someone has to try to keep Shudde M’ell from waking. No one had listened, and now you grimly march into the ruins of the city you tried to save, determined to find some clue to sealing away the ancient creature once and for all.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Cities in Ruin, a new expansion for Eldritch Horror!

You feel it just below the surface. Something gnawing at the edge of sanity, a feeling that the steady march of machines and concrete that have come to be recognized as progress in the modern world is transient. Your visions show you a desolate future, where all that remains is dust, ash, and those who have long slumbered.

Violent earthquakes contort cities to unrecognizable ruin, unrelenting typhoons eradicate coastlines, and deep below the Earth something ancient stirs. Shudde M’ell, The Cataclysm from Below, approaches with destruction and ruin as his heralds.

Cities in Ruin sees four new investigators face the brink of madness to battle Ancient Ones, and introduces a slew of new monster and encounter cards to the world of Eldritch Horror. And what’s more, new Ancient One Shudde M’ell’s presence brings a destructive twist to the game in the form of the Disaster deck.
