Hawk Wargames is excited to announce Dropzone Commander: 2nd Edition!

The current Dropzone Commander system is highly regarded and we are working on bringing you a new edition that retains its excellent core mechanics whilst improving many aspects to reflect warfare in the 27th Century.

We are in the stages of alpha testing the proposed changes and a closed beta will also take place with our Hawk Talon scheme. We expect a release in Q4 2017 with a release date announced closer to the time.

2nd Edition will bring balance to existing units and enhance a player’s collection, not invalidate it. We want every unit to be playable. New units are in development which will be previewed over the next few months.

Beasts of War have interviewed Dave and they will have a video for you on Monday with more details including proposed changes and even more new artwork, including this incredible Archangel squadron!

Brigade Models Release New Austro-Hungarian Aeroef

ViribusHabsburg

July 23, 2017

As the next stage in the gradual resculpting of the Aeronef range, Brigade Models have released five new capital ships for the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Three of the models replace the existing battleship designs – the Erzherzog Ferdinand Max, Budapest and Szent István classes. All have new resin hulls with the customary collection of metal fittings – turrets, masts, funnels and tails.

The two new models are the Viribus Unitas dreadnought, which may be familiar to more venerable Aeronef gamers – long ago I wrote an article on our website about converting a Ferdinand Max model to the Viribus Unitas class by extending the hull and adding to the armament. This version of the Viribus is similarly an extended Ferdinand with an extra main turret. Finally, and largest of all, the Habsburg class utilises the semi-rigid dirigible hull of the Kaiserin class fighter carrier, but replaces the flight deck with a substantial mixed main battery, and the flank anti-fighter turrets are replaced by eight secondary gun turrets.

The three existing models are already in fleet packs, and we’ve created an extra fleet pack with a Habsburg and Viribus Unitas in, along with escorts. Although the older models are technically being retired, they’ll still be available to anyone who already has some and wants compatible models – just go to the page for the new versions and scroll down, then you’ll see a link allowing you to buy the old version.

VAN-704 – Erzherzog Ferdinand Max – £7.00
VAN-706 – Budapest – £6.00
VAN-708 – Szent István – £7.00
VAN-714 – Habsburg – £9.00
VAN-715 – Viribus Unitas – £7.50

VANFP-704 – Austro-Hungarian Fleet Pack #3 – £22.00

VANF-703 – Austrian Empire Flags – £0.50

Khurasan Releases 15mm Purgators Minis

purgator-support

July 17, 2017

Khurasan have neglected the 15mm Little Carinthia Eldritch Horror range too long, but help is on the way — the Papal Purgator Battalions have arrived.

These include conventional weapons to strip away the damned human followers of the dark powers — rifles as well as heavier weapons — but the real demon fighting power is provided by the Exorcists, wielding the Flame of the Sacred Heart. To use the Flame, those fearless souls have to approach the demon … eye to eye. The Purgators all wear the pointed hood of the penitent — this prevents demons from seeing their faces and thus stealing their souls.

Available now.

Brigade Models release 6mm Combat Cars

Combat-Cars-e1499443117205

July 14, 2017

Brigade Models have released two new vehicles for their 6mm Mercenary Brigade force, bringing the small-scale range into line with their 15mm counterparts.

The first is the Mantra Cavalry Vehicle. Based on the drive train of the Shaman tank, this is an open-topped fast recce vehicle which dispenses huge amounts of firepower from the three crew-served gatlings in the rear compartment. The gunners are protected from shrapnel by an overhead splinter screen. The Shinigami is the Mantra’s predecessor, essentially an extended jeep with two gatlings in the unprotected rear deck.

Both models are metal castings with separate guns. The Mantra’s splinter screen is an etched-brass piece – it just needs to be cut out of its frame and the legs bent downwards 90°, which then pop into position on the chassis with a drop of superglue. Both models are available individually or in a Recce Troop pack containing six of each model along with a pair of Wizard jeeps.

SF300-1506 – Mantra Cavalry Vehicle – £1.00
SF300-1510 – Shinigami Combat Car – £0.60
IC-1516 – Mercenary Scout Troop – £9.50

New German Units Available for Konflikt ’47

July 12, 2017

Warlord Games has released some new German units for their alternative history miniature game Konflikt ’47!

Ready to bust even the thickest of bunkers is the Thor heavy panzermech, lumbering over the battlefield with its massive howitzer. The Thor panzermech is designed to enter the toughest urban environments and deal with entrenched infantry. Well armoured and armed it does its job far too well for most opponent’s liking.

With all the new armoured machines and genetic creatures walking the war-torn world, Germany has stepped up its Anti-Tank game with the new German Heavy Sniper Team.
With the advent of heavy armour and light walkers on the battlefield, the role and relevance of heavy anti-tank rifles have been revised. Never intended to take on heavy vehicles, they are perfect for tackling scout walkers and the new breed of heavy infantry. This blister pack contains a detailed metal heavy sniper team consisting of an anti-tank rifleman and their spotter.

Star Wars: Armada Wave 6 Available Now!

swm26-27_titleimage

July 10, 2017

The sixth wave of expansions for Star Wars: Armada is now available!

Comprised of the Imperial Light Carrier Expansion Pack and the Hammerhead Corvettes Expansion PackArmada Wave VI hits far above its weight class with its surprisingly potent star ships and an array of upgrades focused on close-quarters combat.

Imperial players gain a medium-base ship that elevates their squadron game to new heights, making it easier than ever to wipe out Rebel fighters with your TIE swarms. More than this, the Quasar Fire-class cruiser-carrier even makes it possible for your TIE swarms to chew through your opponents’ ships’ defenses, leaving them completely vulnerable to the thunderous volleys of lasers and missiles unleashed by your Star Destroyers. And the ship itself is no slouch either; it can even equip and discard a set of Disposable Capacitors to surprise opponents with heavy volleys of red and blue dice from long range.

New 15mm BMP-1P from Khurasan

bmp1p-e1498829450978

July 7, 2017

Khurasan are very pleased to release our latest 15mm Soviet/Russian vehicle of the Cold War to Modern period, the BMP-1P.

After its trial by fire in the Yom Kippur War, the BMP-1 was found to have room for improvement, and one key issue was the mounting of the ATGM launcher above the main cannon. This was remedied on the BMP-1P, which has a pintle mounted ATGM launching tube. Thousands of these remain in service around the world today
