Fleet Troopers Unit Expansion for Star Wars: Legion Announced

swl13_spread

Jan 29, 2018

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the next Unit Expansion for Star Wars: Legion—the Fleet Troopers Unit Expansion!

From the opening shots of A New Hope, we’re introduced to an ongoing space battle as a massive Star Destroyer closes in on a tiny corvette. The first characters we see within the beleaguered Tantive IV are C-3PO and R2-D2, but only moments later, we witness a squad of troopers dashing down the hallway to defend Leia Organa’s starship against the Imperial boarding party. With this Unit Expansion, you can bring those soldiers’ dedication and readiness for battle to your games of Star Wars: Legion.

The Fleet Troopers Unit Expansion immediately expands the options available to your Rebel armies with seven unpainted, easily assembled Fleet Trooper miniatures. An assortment of upgrade cards lets you customize your Fleet Troopers to match the battles you expect to face. After all, whether you’re battling in the tight corridors of a starship or on a more open battlefield, your Fleet Troopers can make the difference in your fights. Releasing alongside the Leia Organa Commander Expansion, these two expansions promise to shake up Rebel Alliance tactics for Star Wars: Legion.

Clash of Kings 2018 Available Now from Mantic

Clash-of-Kings

Jan 25, 2018

Mantic Games is pleased to announce that the new Clash of Kings supplement is available now. The 72-page supplement includes new units, faction changes, refreshed spells and more for the mass fantasy battle game Kings of War.

After the success of the Clash of Kings supplement in 2017, Mantic went back to the drawing board for the latest edition. Using data from tournaments around the world, the Kings of War Rules Committee looked closely at those units that needed to be re balanced to ensure Kings of War remains competitive (and fun). This means there are more than double the amount of unit amends in the latest edition.

What’s more, after launching the idea of formations in the Edge of the Abyss summer campaign, Clash of Kings 2018 expands upon the idea and introduces brand new formations for all factions in Kings of War. Alongside this there are new Living Legends for a range of armies, including a massive catapult for the goblins and a gigantic Fire Elemental for the Forces of Nature.

But Clash of Kings isn’t the only big change for Kings of War in 2018. Also launching this week are the brand new Battlefield Cards. This deck of cards adds new objectives to battles, random events and new strategies to push your armies to the limit. Using the Battlefield Cards will ensure that no two games ever play the same!

Clash of Kings 2018 Edition has an RRP of £14.99/€19.99/$24.99 while the Battlefield Cards have an RRP of £7.99/€10.99/$12.99. Both are available in stores now.

Warlord Games Release 2 New Iconic Daleks and Genesis Ark Ship Minis

Jan 22, 2018

Warlord Games are proud to announce an all-new boxed set for their Doctor Who Time Vortex Miniatures Game, Maximum Extermination! featuring two unique Dalek metal figures, the fearsome Special Weapons Dalek and the red Supreme Dalek. The set is finished off with a beautifully crafted resin Genesis Ark.

The Special Weapons Dalek, first seen in the 1988 story Remembrance of the Daleks, is a heavily-armed Dalek featuring greater offensive capabilities than a regular Dalek, and was built to withstand even the strongest enemy fire. This unique design featured an enormous energy canon mounted on the upper half of its body, replacing the usual eye stalk, manipulator arm and gun stick found on standard Dalek casings.

After the return of Davros and the resultant reestablishment of the Dalek race, the red coloured Supreme Dalek commanded this new Dalek empire. His design was more similar to a regular Dalek, however, he sported gold coloured ridges around his casing and gold spheres on his skirt section.

The Genesis Ark was a prison ship constructed using stolen Time Lord technology. Although only slightly larger in size to a normal Dalek casing, it was dimensionally transcendental, like the TARDIS, bigger on the inside than the outside, and transported millions of Daleks from the Last Great Time War to the present day, where the Ark was opened and the Daleks inside were released into the sky above Torchwood Tower to wreak havoc upon humanity.

These three beautifully sculpted figures are a welcome addition to our range and are the first to contain Exterminate! Game cards inside the box.

Wyrd Previews Royal Rifle Corps for The Other Side

Wyrd_FridayPreview_1.12.2018-768x768

Jan 19, 2018

Wyrd Miniatures previews the Royal Rifle Corps for their 32mm Minis Game The Other Side.

The most elite infantry unit in the King’s forces is the Royal Rifle Corps. The average soldier only has a few paths that lead to joining the Rifle Corps (but the most common is a tour in the Grenadiers). Armed with the best weapons money can buy, these troops drill endlessly to ensure that they are prepared for anything the enemy might throw at them. The CLLE Rifle is one of the longest range mass-produced firearms on Earth, and the sound of a squad of Royal Rifles firing on a position can put fear into even the most stalwart defenders. When they are not on the battlefield or drilling, the Corps are often asked to take part in parades and other morale building exercises on behalf of the King.

On the tabletop, the Royal Rifle Corps are a longranged, high accuracy, high damage unit. While a Commander pays for the privilege of their presence, the Corps rarely disappoint. Solid defense, Armor, and Actions ensure that the Royal Rifle Corps are a valuable (if expensive) addition to any Company.

The Other Side is an upcoming game about allegiances doing battle across the Earth in a fight for supremacy and survival. Using 32mm miniatures, players will control squads of troops and massive titans as they attempt to defeat their foes and seize control of Earth.. Conflict is resolved through the use of a deck of cards, allowing players more control over their own destinies. The Other Side shares a world with Malifaux, but the games are not compatible.

AT-ST Unit Expansion for Star Wars: Legion Available to Pre Order

swl08_spread

Jan 12, 2018

Across the Star Wars saga, Imperial walkers have formed a key part of the Empire’s ground-based operations. The Imperial assault on Hoth was spearheaded by massive AT-ATs, with lighter, more mobile AT-STs providing flank support. Though All-Terrain Scout Transports (or AT-STs) may lack the sheer firepower and impenetrable armor of an AT-AT, their mobility and ease of deployment makes them a favored option for any Imperial general. Soon, you’ll be able to bring your own AT-STs to your games of Star Wars™: Legion!

Yyou can pre-order your copies of the AT-ST Unit Expansion online today!

In a game of Star Wars: Legion, an AT-ST holds the heavy rank—a rank that’s well suited to the AT-ST’s towering size and intimidating firepower. A standard Star Wars: Legion army can only include two heavy units, and in truth, you would be hard-pressed to include more than two AT-STs among your forces. Coming in at a base cost of 195 points, a single AT-ST takes up almost a quarter of your full allotment of 800 points in a standard game. Between nearly unbreakable armor and an undeniable assortment of firepower, it’s plain to see that an AT-ST can have a game-changing impact on the field of battle. How many AT-STs will you field, and how will you upgrade them?
