Nov 15, 2017

Modiphius is expanding the world of Mindjammer with two new books.

The first is the Core Worlds book, which provides the information needed about the Commonality Core and the other is the Mindjammer Companion which takes you to the Outremer subsector.

The Core Worlds Sourcebook details a vast sector of Commonality Space for your Mindjammer games. Focussing for the first time on the ancient, decadent, and sophisticated heart of the Commonality, it provides you with deep background and material to explore this fascinating region. Play Fringe Worlders experiencing the strangeness of the Core first-hand, or Core Worlders, sure of their superiority, until they leave their homes and are found wanting. Play planetary sentiences ruling whole worlds, ancient dynasties with plans crossing millennia, illegal xenomorphs fighting oppression and neglect in the forbidden substrates beneath the towering arcologies. Push the boundaries of transhuman science-fiction gaming—explore what it means to be human itself. A bright, bizarre, and thought-provoking milieu for your Mindjammer games!

In The Mindjammer Companion, welcome to the turbulent worlds of the Outremer subsector, out on the Commonality frontier. It’s the heart of the Rim Sector, a spectacular, violent place of feuding polities in the no-man’s land between the Commonality and the Venu Empire. In the aftermath of war, everything is up for grabs: Successor States rise and fall, the new xenomorph Sentient Alliance flexes its muscles, and the Commonality and the nefarious Venu jostle for position, knowing that war could break out again at any moment.

English Eerie: Rural Horror Storytelling Game Available Now

225811

Nov 14, 2017

English Eerie is a storytelling game for one player about horror in rural England.

The game takes inspiration from folklore, along with the works of M.R. James, Arthur Machen and Algernon Blackwood to help players tell their own haunted tales of the English countryside.

The game is designed to be played over one or a series of dark evenings by the flicker of candlelight. The player, you, will need a journal, a pen, a ten-sided die (d10), a set of tokens in two colours (beads etc) and a deck of playing cards.

The aim of English Eerie is to tell your own tale of rural horror through entries in your journal – just as many protagonists do in horror literature. The card deck will be the engine that drives your story, presenting scenes for you to flesh out and for your character to overcome – all of which is recorded in physical journal entries. As time goes on tension rises and the horror is ramped up until the climactic end scene. There are several scenarios at the end of this book that offer you an inspirational framework to build a terrifying tale. You can choose to play the game in a single sitting or to draw out the experience over a series of nights.

This book contains five spine-chilling scenarios to inspire your tales of terror:

The Beast on the Moor
The Lost River
Detox
A Rattle of Chains
The Inn

For those who want a group game, the Campfire rules offer suggestions for playing English Eerie with friends.

Harwenna’s Tower Released by Heroic Maps

Oct 9, 2017

Heroic Maps unleashes Harwenna’s Tower for your RPG Tabletop.

The Elven Witch Harwenna had this tower built in the 12th Age, when the ice sheets still covered the north and the sea levels were lower. And now, despite millenia having passed, the tower still stands, a testament to Elven construction. The name lives on in the small communities of Elves that live in the region still, and whilst the tower is now empty, overgrown and crumbling, some say it still retains some of the magic of the original owner.

A set of printable battlemaps compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl game. Use as a standalone gameboard, or combine with any same-scale tileset.
Contents: A set of multi-level battlemaps, depicting a ruined Elven tower in a forest setting. The 20×20 ground floor shows the crumbling ruins in the woods, and each of the 5 subsequent levels has a cracked floor of ornately decorated Elven marble, overgrown with plants and vines. Aside from the ground and 5th floors, the rest can be arranged in any order.
Also included are 300dpi full size jpgs, for poster printing or VTT. (n.b. gridless version only available as jpeg)
Also included are Roll20 VTT ready files, sized at 72dpi and 140x140px per square (all less than 10mb)
