There’s almost no limit to what the droids of the Star Wars universe can do. They can walk and talk and think. They can be loyal. They can be treacherous. Sometimes, they may even be grumpy and cantankerous.

In one sense, they share hard limitations imposed upon them by their parts and their programming. But in another sense, they’re limited only by the imaginations of their creators. And this means that, just like the galaxy’s organic sentients, droids can play an astonishing array of roles—assassins or astromechs, medics or translators, heroes or villains.

And with the three new Ally and Villain Packs now available at your local retailer, you can explore more of these droids and their roles in your games of Imperial Assault!

Disturbances in the Force: New Villain and Ally Packs Coming for Imperial Assault

Three powerful Force users… and not a single Jedi among them.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of two new Villain Packs and one new Ally Pack for Imperial Assault!

  • Maul Villain Pack
  • Emperor Palpatine Villain Pack
  • Ahsoka Tano Ally Pack

In the city where the Jedi Council once sat high enough above ground level to soak up the sun’s fading light, there are no more Jedi. The galaxy’s former self-appointed guardians have been swept aside by Order 66, and Emperor Palpatine has established an order of Inquisitors to hunt down and destroy any who still remain. Even those who simply demonstrated a sensitivity to the Force were at risk of being targeted, and many were captured and sent to a secret installation on planet Arkanis as part of Project Harvester.

As a result, the Jedi have all but ceased to exist, and they have faded even in the minds of the galaxy’s citizens, many of whom now view the Force as some “hokey religion.” But there are still some who can feel the Force and draw upon its strength. Some still seek to use its power to defend themselves and those around them. Others choose to wield the Force like a weapon that they can direct at their enemies. And when there are rumors leading toward an artifact that may enhance these individuals’ abilities to use the Force, you’ll find three of the most powerful of them ready to chase after those leads among the streets of Coruscant.

Together, these Ally and Villain Packs introduce three highly detailed figures for Maul, Emperor Palpatine, and Ahsoka Tano that you can use to replace their tokens in your Heart of the Empire campaign. Plus, they introduce brand-new missions for your campaign games and skirmishes, plus all the Deployment cards, Command cards, and Agenda cards you need to explore new Force-centered tactics in every mode of play.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of Heart of the Empire, a new expansion for Imperial Assault!

You’ll find three new heroes ready to join the Rebellion, aided by the talented Force user Ahsoka Tano. You’ll maneuver through the crowded city, pursued and confronted by Imperials at every turn. Fantasy Flight Games Previews Disciples of Harmony for Star Wars Force and Destiny

swf35_book_left

April 21st, 2017

There is no single path to peace, but the Galactic Empire has ensured that all such routes are fraught with danger. The Consular works with the Force to bring peace wherever they go, and the all-new Disciples of Harmony sourcebook expands players’ options in the Star Wars: Force and Destiny role playing game, including three new specializations and adding on three new species.

Although all it takes to be a successful Consular is a desire to see justice done, some species are more inclined to seek balance and peace in a way that lines up with the ways of the Consular. The Arkanian, Cosian, and Pau’an species are presented in Disciples of Harmony, opening your campaign to cultures focused on Jedi lore, negotiating, and medicine, each having a unique view of the Force.

This preview provides a look at each of these three species and how they play into the role of the Consular.

Utinni! – The Jawa Scavanger Villain Pack comes to Imperial Assault

swi42_box_left

April 7th, 2017

Almost no one knows what Jawas look like beneath their hooded brown robes—not even on Tatooine, where nearly everyone knows them by reputation. They are junk droid scavengers and merchants, and they traverse the desert planet in their massive, treaded sandcrawlers, hawking their wares to moisture farmers with few other options.

Not quite hostile, these Jawas aren’t truly friendly, either. Because their droids are often hastily refurbished, they push to strike their bargains quickly. Then they roll away in their sandcrawlers before the droids have a chance to malfunction.

It’s this combination of mystery, haggling, and droid-focused trickery that you’ll find brought to life by the figure, missions, and cards in the Jawa Scavenger Villain Pack for Imperial Assault.

Fantasy Flight Previews Jabba the Hutt for X-Wing

swx58_spread

March 31st, 2017

In earlier previews of the C-ROC Cruiser Expansion Pack, FFG explored how the Scum faction goes Epic with its huge new ship and how the expansion adds new versatility to the faction’s M3-A “Scyk” Interceptors. However, if there’s any one part of the expansion that’s most likely to impact both Epic and Standard X-Wing™ play, it’s the new crew upgrade— Jabba the Hutt .

Today, we take a closer look at what Jabba brings to X-Wing.

n X-Wing, Jabba the Hutt is a double-slotted crew upgrade that ensures Scum players a chance to enjoy the bounties of his vast criminal network.

But first you have to get him aboard a ship—which, by the way, is no easy task. Currently, only two Scum ships feature two crew slots—the huge-base C-ROC Cruiser and the large-base YV-666 . And only the YV-666 is legal for Standard Play.

Once you get Jabba on board one of your ships, however, he adds immediate value, placing one illicit token to each of your illicit ( ) upgrades. These tokens then give you more uses of the illicit upgrades they modify; whenever you are instructed to discard an illicit upgrade, you can instead discard its illicit token, if it has one.

In short, Jabba the Hutt is Extra Munitions for every illicit upgrade in your squad.

This means Jabba—like Extra Munitions—serves largely to boost the economic value of your upgrades. But it’s important to note that his influence goes a step or two further.
