WizKids Announce the Release of Palm Trees Dexterity Game

March 24, 2019

WizKids is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Palm Treesits new dexterity game of lush leaves and fabulous fronds!

In this dexterity game of quite literal “hand management,” players compete to grow the most verdant trees on a tropical island. To start, players will place their elbows on the table, arms straight up, forming the trunk of their palm tree.  Each player holds a number of cards, representing fronds and coconuts, in their hand. Each card indicates the way in which the player must add it to their hand. Frond cards are simpler, while coconut cards tend to have more difficult rules players must follow.

Each turn, a player will select one of three available cards on the table to have an opponent add to their tree. Each card has a rule on how it must be held: frond cards are simpler, while coconut cards have more difficult rules. Some cards require a player to hold them between two specific fingers, or potentially between their fingers and their palm. When a card is added to a player’s palm tree, they must continue to follow the rules indicated on all the other cards in their hand. Breaking any of these rules would be considered dropping a card, which ends the game.

If the game ends with a dropped card, the player who dropped the card will not score any points for that game. The game also ends when all cards have been placed in all trees. When the game ends, players add up the points on each of the cards in their respective hands, and the player with the most points wins!

The game can also be played teams of two, with one player acting as the tree while the other adds the fronds and coconuts. In this alternate way of playing, each team simultaneously builds their tree instead of taking turns. The game ends as normal. For extra fun, 6 tree trunk tattoo sleeves have been included with the game—these can be worn by players for extra immersion into the mind of an island tree. Palm Trees will release in June 2019!

Flip Ships Coming Summer 2017 from Renegade Game Studios

March 20th, 2017

It was an ambush. That’s the only way to describe it. The mother ship appeared out of nowhere, creating a massive shadow over the city. Within seconds, wave after wave of fighters poured out of it, filling the sky.

We’re launching the ships we have ready, but it isn’t much. Our pilots fight bravely, defending the planet, while we ready the rest of the fleet. Explosions fill the sky, and we’ve taken some hits, but we won’t give up. Will you?

Flip Ships is a cooperative dexterity game for 1-4 players being published by Renegade Game Studios where players take on the roles of brave pilots defending their planet from an onslaught of firepower. Flip your ships to take out the encroaching enemies, and to take down the powerful mother ship before it’s too late.

CMON Releases Monstrous, the Card Game

February 21st, 2017

Being an all powerful God in ancient Greece comes with some pretty sweet perks. It can even go to your head a bit, looking down on those silly humans making sacrifices and offerings just to appease you. However, sometimes faith can be fleeting. Zeus has become unhappy with the level of dedication being displayed by the mortals lately. He’s made an order for a show of power that will restore the awe and belief that he’s become accustomed to. By his decree, players will rain down monstrous creatures from on high to remind people who’s in charge of the world. Time to introduce a little bit of chaos!

Rain down monsters from atop Mt. Olympus to prove your power!

In Monstrous, players take on the role of Greek gods who have decided to show a display of their power to the mortals on Earth. By throwing famous mythical Monsters onto the city states of Greece, players will do battle with each other, control different locations, and earn the Faith of the humans. Monstrous is one of the most strategic dexterity games ever designed. You’ll have to consider which Monster to throw and where you want them to end up… and once you’ve made those decisions, you still have to stick the landing. It’s an all out war for the hearts and minds of the Greeks. Only the god who has shown their mental and physical prowess will earn the Faith of the people and win the game!

Pirates of the 7 Seas available from IDW Games

November 20th, 2015

IDW Games have released their newest game, Pirates of the 7 Seas and you can pick it up now at your local FLGS or online.

The design team behind Mysterium invite you to enter into unknown waters with Pirates of the 7 Seas!

Take a turn for the topsy-turvy, where the top of this very tin serves as the board, your dice are your ships and where they land on the board means as much as what you roll! Choose to remain an independent vagabond, or maybe cut a deal with a Governor to become all official-like in your pirating ways. Consult with a Shaman to curse the other pirates or pay a visit to the Cartographer to find a map with some hidden treasure.

The Pirate with the most booty will win, but a Pirate’s life isn’t always on the up and up. Savvy?

The game may seem straightforward: be a pirate, get the booty, have the most to win. It’s is also dexterity-based, as where you roll the dice on the board matter as much as what the dice say. Those dice represent your pirate ships! So just rolling well won’t win you the game. You’ve also got to have a good eye and skill to get them right where you need them.
