The third deluxe expansion for Arkham Horror: The Card GameThe Forgotten Age takes you deep into the jungle, where your expedition team searches for the ruins of a lost Aztec city-state. Hundreds of miles away from the outside world, you desperately search for the remains of a civilization that may not even exist. The danger grows with each step you take—beyond the treacherous creatures that reside here, like the powerful  Boa Constrictor (The Forgotten Age, 79), you feel almost as if the jungle itself does not want you here. You must explore (as featured in our announcement article), manage your supplies, and keep watch for the dangers lurking in every shadow in order to reach your destination.

Over the course of The Forgotten Age campaign, you will face harrowing dangers and encounter new treacheries unlike anything you’ve experienced in Arkham. This expansion contains two new basic weaknesses that only feature in campaign mode, and they’ll change their shape and grow in dark power as you progress throughout the campaign.

The Masks of Nyarlathotep Expansion for Eldritch Horror Available Now

When the Ancient Ones have occasionally turned their attention to our tiny corner of the universe, it has often been due to a small subset of wrongheaded worshippers calling out to the cosmos for power.

Now, the stars have aligned to amplify this call in Masks of Nyarlathotep, the newest expansion for Eldritch Horror, now available from Fantasy Flight Games.

There is very little light in the cavern, and you’re certain that he hasn’t noticed you following him. You shiver as the silhouette of Nyarlathotep himself stands before the round, dark pool of liquid not more than twenty feet from where you are hiding. For a moment, he looks like a normal man as he sets the tips of his fingers to the surface of the pool. A sour-smelling phosphor seeps out from his touch and spreads across the liquid. The sickly light deepens shadows and casts a lurid sheen into the dank corners of the cave. Voices echo on all sides as the water ripples and flexes, and you can see Nyarlathotep’s form shift and flow effortlessly from one grotesque visage to the next. Its head snaps, stretches, and gibbers at each shadow in its turn. You lose track of how long the barrage of uncanny sound continues, when suddenly, silence reigns. Acutely aware of your labored breathing, you try to calm your fraying nerves and remain hidden. “It won’t matter, you know,” says Nyarlathotep crisply, and your mouth goes dry. It’s hard to tell in the darkness, but you’re sure he’s looking directly at you. “You can struggle and rage against their arrival, but they will come. Your world is forfeit… but I will savor your pathetic efforts.” With that, you can just see the figure Nyarlathotep bend bonelessly and slip into the inky pool as you sprint towards the cavern’s exit.

Omens of the Pharaoh Coming to Elder Sign

Fantasy Flight Games has opened preorders for the newest Elder Sign Expansion, Omens of the Pharaoh.

You listen carefully, huddled behind some shipping containers in a dark alley. Whatever else the thing following you may be, it isn’t stealthy. You can hear it slithering along the broken pavement, dragging itself along the dusty streets. Whatever creature drove you from the ruins at Dashur seems to have followed you to Cairo. At least there were so many people around that you wouldn’t be alone in facing this grotesquery for long. You freeze as the familiar scraping comes to you from the mouth of the alley, and you hear the monstrosity pause for a moment before it continues past your hiding spot. You’ve scarcely caught a breath before you hear the sound of footsteps coming from the direction the creature had gone. Relieved, you step out from behind the crates… and freeze. Whatever is walking toward you is doing a very good job of pretending to be human, except for the face. Human mouths simply cannot stretch that way. As you turn to run, the slithering sound reaches your ears again, accompanied by what you can only assume is the creature’s perverse excuse for laughter.

An expedition into the lands surrounding Dashur has unearthed that which should have remained forever entombed in Omens of the Pharaoh, an expansion for the cooperative dice game Elder Sign. An ancient evil named Nephren-Ka, also known as the Dark Pharaoh, is straining against the bonds that cast him from our world, and it’s up to a few stalwart investigators to stop this terrible presence from returning to Egypt.

English Eerie: Rural Horror Storytelling Game Available Now

English Eerie is a storytelling game for one player about horror in rural England.

The game takes inspiration from folklore, along with the works of M.R. James, Arthur Machen and Algernon Blackwood to help players tell their own haunted tales of the English countryside.

The game is designed to be played over one or a series of dark evenings by the flicker of candlelight. The player, you, will need a journal, a pen, a ten-sided die (d10), a set of tokens in two colours (beads etc) and a deck of playing cards.

The aim of English Eerie is to tell your own tale of rural horror through entries in your journal – just as many protagonists do in horror literature. The card deck will be the engine that drives your story, presenting scenes for you to flesh out and for your character to overcome – all of which is recorded in physical journal entries. As time goes on tension rises and the horror is ramped up until the climactic end scene. There are several scenarios at the end of this book that offer you an inspirational framework to build a terrifying tale. You can choose to play the game in a single sitting or to draw out the experience over a series of nights.

For those who want a group game, the Campfire rules offer suggestions for playing English Eerie with friends.
