Mechanicum Macrocarid Explorator available to preorder for Horus Heresy

November 12th, 2016

Games Workshop has a new vehicle available for your Horus Heresy army; the Mechanicum Macrocarid Explorator! Preorder now, shipping next week.

Uniquely crafted to the needs of the Magos leading the expeditionary force, Macrocarid Explorators first saw use as frontline combat and mobile command vehicles in the early days of the Great Crusade. Heavily armoured and equipped with the Mechanicum’s signature technologies and weapons, they are now pressed into service on both sides of the cataclysmic battles of The Horus Heresy.

Macrocarid Explorators can transport Magos’ or their units of deadly automata across the battlefield, cutting through any opponent foolish enough to come close with powerful weapons enhanced by augury scanners. Their heavy armour makes them as durable as the Legiones Astartes Land Raider, with the addition of extensive self-repair systems.

The Mechanicum Macrocarid Explorator includes optional weapons for the vehicle’s sponsons and hull mounting points. A pair of lascannon or two irradiation engines may be fitted to its sponson mounts, whilst a mauler bolt-cannon and a graviton imploder are available as hull mounted weapons.

Horus Heresy: Burning of Prospero boxed game available now

October 27th, 2016

With Burning of Prospero, Games Workshop gives the boxed game treatment to another battle in the Horus Heresy saga (last year at about the same time, the company release Betrayal at Calth). This one pits the Space Wolves, Sisters of Silence, and the Custodian Guard against the psychic Thousand Sons for control of the city of Tizca.

Included in the box are 47 miniatures, alternative weapon pieces, tiles, dice, a rule book, and a story book for $150.

The Horus Heresy: Burning of Prospero is a game of running battles set in a city torn apart by a fiery cataclysm, featuring six scenarios designed to stretch the strategic nous of two players. One player controls the Space Marines of the Thousand Sons, reality-twisting psychic superhumans, and one controls the Space Wolves, Sisters of Silence and Custodian Guard. It’s a fast-paced game full of strategic decisions, with the strengths and weaknesses of both sides meaning tactics and foresight are just as important as lucky dice rolls.

Preorder your Mechanicum Ordinatus Sagittar from Forge World

April 5th, 2016

Forge World has opened up preorders for their new Horus Heresy beast, the Mechanicum Ordinatus Sagittar with it’s insane Volcano Cannon.

The Mechanicum Ordinatus Sagittar is a Lords of War choice for Mechanicum armies in Horus Heresy games. It can also be taken as a Lords of War Choice by Adeptus Mechanicus: Cult Mechanicus and Skitarii armies in games of Warhammer 40,000 using the rules found in The Horus Heresy: Mechanicum – Taghmata Army List.

The Mechanicum Ordinatus Sagittar is a complete, multi-part resin kit that includes two automata crew models.

From the Publisher:

The Mechanicum Ordinatus Sagittar is a massively destructive war engine, as rare as it is potent. Similar in design to the Ordinatus Ulator, the Sagittar differs in its primary weapon being a Volcano Cannon of prodigious power.

In the time of the Great Crusade the Ordinatus macro engines were rarer than even the Battle Titans of the Legio Titanica, and only a handful of Forge Worlds had the resources or indeed the doctrinal blessing and religious authority to produce or maintain such embodiments of the Omnissiah’s divine wrath. Such was the sacredness of these machines above all others, that an entire subcult of the Mechanicum was devoted to their worship and propitiation.

The Ordinatus Sagittar carries a trio of Volkite Culverins as its secondary armaments, whilst its primary weapon is a Belicosa pattern Volcano Cannon, more often carried by Warlord class Battle Titans. An ancient pattern of weapon whose destructive power is comparable to many shipboard cannon and planetary defence lasers, few mobile weapons platforms are capable of mounting the Belicosa simply due to its savage power requirements. When engulfed in the cannon’s cohesive light, the strongest fortress walls may be reduced to glowing embers and the most resilient armour to molten slag and vapour.

Horus Heresy’s Nathaniel Garro available

December 3rd, 2015

Forge World continues to release staggeringly beautiful Character minis for the 28mm Horus Heresy 30K universe. This time it’s Nathaniel Garro, Hand of the Sigillite.

The foremost of the Knights-Errant, Nathaniel Garro was once a Battle-Captain of the Legiones Astartes Death Guard. Though he served his Primarch with honour and dedication, he was condemned as unworthy and, along with countless thousands of Legionaries who could not be counted on to tread the path of the Traitor, was betrayed at Isstvan III.

Surviving to bring word of the treachery to Terra, Garro renounced his oaths to the Death Guard and pledged his life and loyalty to Malcador the Sigillite, swearing to undertake any mission, no matter how perilous, in the ultimate defence of humanity.

Nathaniel Garro, Hand of the Sigillite, is part of the Horus Heresy Character Series. Armed with a paragon bolter and Libertas, his masterfully wrought broadsword, Garro goes to war clad in ornate power armour bearing the symbols of the Sigillite and protected by technologies and artefacts both wondrous and guileful.

This is a multi-part resin kit and is presented in a stylish Horus Heresy Character Series box. It includes a 32mm gaming base and a 50mm scenic base that depicts the dismembered remains of a Word Bearers Legion Gal Vorbak.

Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth board game from Games Workshop

November 10th, 2015

Games Workshop has begun taking orders for the Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth board game filled with plastic miniatures with a modular game board.

Included in GW’s Horus Heresy board game are 38 miniatures (a Captain, a Chaplain, a Contemptor Dreadnought, five Legion Terminators, and 30 Legion Space Marines), four double-sided boards, a book of rules and scenarios, command and reference cards, various tokens, and 12 custom dice (taking a lesson, it seems, from FFG).

The game sees two groups of Space Marines (Ultramarines and Word Bearers) duking it out in the restricted space of the caverns under Calth.

Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth is priced at $150 and ships November 14th.

The Horus Heresy: Betrayal At Calth is a fantastic standalone boxed game of claustrophobic tunnel combat, set during the Word Bearers’ invasion of the Ultramarine world of Calth. Emphasising fast-paced squad-based combat during six exciting missions, it allows players to choose their side and command a force of beautifully detailed Citadel miniatures in a brutal war for survival, during one of the iconic battles of the Horus Heresy.
