I Will Never Grow Up becomes the exclusive distributor of Field Marshal Games products.

December 12, 2016

I Will Never Grow Up Games has been named the worldwide exclusive distributor of Field Marshal Games line of luxury, replacement, strategy board game components.

After extensive talks between I Will Never Grow Up Games and Field Marshal Games, Field Marshal Games has made the difficult but necessary decision to close up their end user sales division and focus entirely on design and development of products in the luxury board gaming replacement parts field.

“Field Marshal Games has been a passion of mine for a little over nine years” says Jeremy Blowers, founder of Field Marshal Games. “Due to changing circumstances we have entrusted the distribution of our products to I Will Never Grow Up Games because of their dedication to the customers, fans and the hobby gaming industry. This frees up time to develop new products that we know I Will Never Grow Up will be capable of bringing to customers in a professional manner.”

All orders currently pending through Field Marshal Games will be forwarded to and fulfilled by I Will Never Grow Up Games. Moving forward all FMG products can be found and purchased via the I Will Never Grow Up Games website at www.iwillnevergrowup.com.

I Will Never Grow Up Games announces new Into the Black: A Game of Space Piracy board game

April 12th, 2016

The first entry into the tabletop board game market from I Will Never Grow Up Games, INTO THE BLACK: A GAME OF SPACE PIRACY is set to cast off on Kickstarter May 3rd, 2016 for a 28 day journey!

I Will Never Grow Up Games announces Into the Black: A Game of Space Piracy, a new board game where players take on the roles of hardened space pirates boarding and plundering an unknown star ship in an effort to complete their own secret goals and take over the bridge before their time, and luck, run out!

The game will launch on Kickstarter on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at 5pm Eastern time and the campaign will run for 28 days ending on May 31st.

Into the Black is a sci-fi themed, tile laying, semi-cooperative board game for 1 to 4 players aged 13 and up. The game plays in approximately 45-60 minutes and every game is a different experience with a random tile layout. Multiple lose conditions and few win conditions make for a challenging time. Each player has the opportunity to win individually or as a group and there is the potential for one to sabotage everything, revealing themselves as a traitor upon completion of their own traitor objective.

“Hard seal is positive Cap’n, we’ve breached the airlock! Breach the airlock, blow the doors, plunder the ship and take over the bridge!”

As you board and explore an unknown Federal star ship searching for the bridge, strange winding corridors and new rooms are slowly revealed. Be wary of where you step, as each new room may hold a potentially deadly surprise; enemy defenders attempting to fend off your dastardly plundering, a dangerous plasma leak or artificial gravity failure, and more! Each of these issues must be dealt with in one way or another to be able to proceed in your quest.

Looting the ship may net you many helpful items, such as stim packs to heal your or another’s crew member, special and upgraded weapons to help fight off enemy defenders, body armor to protect against damage and much more. Adding to the chaos, each player has their own personal goal to achieve; be wary of a potential traitor in your midst!

Explore the ship. Complete your objectives. Reach the bridge. Defeat the crew. All before meeting any number of failure conditions to win or lose; together!

Designer Blog – Staying Focused and Productive

Designer Blog – Into the Black

Staying Focused and Productive

Easily the most challenging thing when it comes to game design (or any other task if we’re going to be honest) is staying focused and productive with your time. Every single day there are so many distractions that sidetrack me from writing, editing, testing, drawing .. doing anything that I actually should be doing really!

The list is long too; Social Media (Damn you facebook and twitter!), Youtube, Gaming (online and at the table with the family), pets, family, full time jobs, the honey-do list, blog posts (oops .. doing that right now aren’t I?) .. it never ends!

How can you stay focused and productive?

  1. Schedule time to design/write/test
    • Crazy, isn’t it? Just like a “real” job, where you have deadlines to meet, scheduling time to work on your games is the first easy step to getting work done. Even if you’ve hit a road-block, use this time to seek inspiration by reading game reviews or design articles.
  2. Reduce Distractions
    • Dump those social media tabs, email tabs, RSS feeds and so on from your browser. During your scheduled design time you don’t need any of those distractions sitting there taunting and tempting you. In fact, don’t even have your web browser open! Just focus on what you’re doing. It’s amazing how much time you can very quickly lose by checking what is going on in the world.
  3. Take a break
    • 50 ways to take a breakEvery work productivity expert will tell you that you should take a few minutes to get up, stretch and walk around every once in a while. It may sound counterproductive to stop doing your work in order to be more productive but it’s true. The experts suggest that you should take 5 minutes of break for every 25 minutes of work, but the formula for perfect productivity is apparently 52 minutes work followed by 17 minutes of break.  Obviously there is no set-in-stone option.  I suggest you take 10 minutes every 30 to 45 minutes and walk around the block. Go get a drink. Check in on the family. But then get right back to it! Don’t get distracted!
  4. Write a list
    • Possibly the most important thing you can do, as far as I’m concerned, is write out a small, clear list of little goals; things you wish to accomplish. Have a purpose to your work, but make it concise. Break it down, check them off as you go. This will help you stay focused, and feel more accomplished as you complete the list bit by bit!
  5. Don’t overdo it!
    • overworkedEasy to say but hard to follow! There’s too much to do and too little time in the day. It’s ok to take a break from a project if you feel you’re getting burnt out. Losing the desire to work on your own project because you’ve not taken a break does you no good. Designing a game should be an enjoyable process. If you’re not enjoying yourself, step back for a while (a few days, weeks, or even months if needed) and come back to it when you’re refreshed and ready to proceed!

What tips and tricks do you use to stay focused and productive when performing a task?

Gearing Up for the 5th Annual Field Marshal Gaming Convention!

August 19th, 2015

I Will Never Grow Up is gearing up to co-host the 5th Annual Field Marshal Gaming Convention held in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

This family friendly, fairly casual event sees a growing group of tabletop gamers come together for a weekend of fun, open gaming, prizes, demos, and more.
There are 2 confirmed Vendors for this years event; Worlds Collide Comics and Games and The Battle of France 1940 historical board game released by Sean-Micheal Inc.

A few of the events scheduled are the returning Midnight Munchkin Madness, Kings of War table, Robotech RPG Tactics, Bolt Action Minis, Axis and Allies tables, loads of Participation Demos such as Small World, Dead of Winter, Eclipse and more (check out the schedule on the website for a full list). And fans of loud moving things rejoice, the live, outdoor WW2 Tank Demonstration is back this year as well!

As we are partners in bringing this event to local gamers (and a few not-so-local) we are busy working behind the scenes to get things ready.  You may notice a little slow down once in a while in the news feed.  Do not fear, we aren’t going away .. we’re just super busy and we’ll catch up!

Tickets are just over 50% sold out (a record for pre-sales for this event) but rest assured there should be space available if you plan to buy single day passes at the door!
T-Shirts are also available this year for those hardcore FMGCon attendees.  Pre-Sales of those are done, but you can buy them (while quantities last) at the event desk as well.

A portion of proceeds goes to help the Wounded Warriors Canada.  Honour the Fallen, Help the Living!

The event takes place September 12-13, 2015. Doors open at 9am each day and close late.
